Sawyer County Aviation offers 30 minute discovery flights to potential flight students.

  • Experience the thrill and freedom of flight
  • Fly an airplane under the guidance of a licensed flight instructor

The Sawyer County Aviation flight school is a participating member of the BE A PILOT program sponsored by the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) and Sporty's Pilot Shop.

Sawyer County Aviation offers training for the following certificates and ratings:
 
  • Recreational Pilot License
  • Private Pilot License
  • Commercial Pilot License
  • Instrument Rating
  • Sport Pilot License
  • Sport Pilot Instructor
  • Flight Instructor Certificate
  • Instrument Flight Instructor
   
Sawyer County Aviation also offers proficiency training for licensed pilots. The following programs are examples of the proficiency training available:

Michael (Mike) Wagner - Owner/Operator of Sawyer County Aviation.
Mike holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in General Flight Technology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Technology, and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. All of his degrees are from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Mike holds a commercial pilot license with instrument, multi-engine, and seaplane ratings. He is a certified flight instructor and certified instrument flight instructor. Mike started flying as a freshman in college and has accumulated over 2200 hours of flight time and has given over 650 hours of flight instruction during his flying career. All of the students he has recommended for flight tests have passed the test on their first attempt. In addition to providing flight instruction under the banner of Sawyer County Aviation, Mike currently works in Hayward, Wisconsin as an environmental engineer.
