Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Pre-Birkie. The conditions were not perfect for the latter skiers as the course softened, but no one can deny that they got their monies worth in terms of a "workout".

A BIG Thank You from the Hayward Lions Club to all who came to Hayward to be apart of our 27th Lion's Pre-Birkie! It is our hope that you enjoyed our event as much as we enjoyed putting it on for you!
As we have said many times before, your entry fees are put to good use helping us "to serve" - making life a little better for the many less fortunate.
NEW Marathon Course is Set
As you know change is sometimes tough especially when you are used to doing something the same for 26 years! However, with the advent of the new (and beautiful) Birkie Classic Trail we had an opportunity to enhance our race and by all indications, that change was received positively with almost half of the 813 registered skiers in the 42km!
What that told us, is that, you not only like our race, you want it to last longer! Consequently, we plan to retain the two options in future Pre-Birkie Races.
Our skiers-the most important asset!
We want you to know that the race is put on by a group of volunteers. Their number one goal is to provide a fun, safe, quality event for you, the skier. We are always cognizant of the fact, that without the skiers there would be no race. Having said that, we want you to know how much our volunteers really appreciate all the positive feedback you have given us and we appreciate your tolerance when things are not as perfect as they could be. Hope to see you at our 28th Pre-Birkie!
