Haward Lakes Area Invites You to...
                                                                  Experience Winter in the Northwoods!

Snowmobile, ski, snowshoe, ice-fish, tube or skate-then find some hot cocoa and a crackling fire!

Snowmobile over 600 miles of groomed trails.
With an inviting small town atmosphere, Hayward makes snowmobile vacations easy and fun. Annual snowfall is about 60-inches, and the northwoods help to hold this snow, providing a riding season that runs from December to mid-March. Twenty-four-hour grooming keeps more than 600 miles of trails here in top shape. In fact, the Sawyer County Snowmobile Alliance is the World’s largest single owner of grooming equipment. Click here for snowmobile trail conditions. Click here for snowmobile trail map.

Cross-country ski on over 250 miles of groomed Nordic Trails. Winter is crisp, clean air and glittering trees as you glide through pristine forests on cross-country skis. It is learning how quiet “quiet” can be as you snowshoe across frozen wetlands, alert to the dart of deer or rabbit, or the chirp of a chickadee. It is the solitude of relaxing over your favorite ice hole, keenly awaiting the trophy you know is down there. Click here for trail conditions.

Cross Country Skiing Trails Galore!

Outdoor Report

Winter made its arrival in the north woods. Although it does not start "officially" until December – it's here. The lakes are making ice, snow depths are building, and snowmobile and ski trail grooming is underway.

Ice thickness is up to six inches in some areas, on some lakes. However, we are still fairly early in the season, the snow cover is slowing ice formation, and there is plenty of ice fishing remaining for this winter. . . Click here for the Complete Outdoor Report...

Family Vacations in Northern WI

Winter activities for families and individuals make this a great winter destination for your next vacation!

Checkout Our NEW WEBSITE !!!

Calling all travel planners, the first place to find travel information is online. Hayward has launched a Fresh New Website www.haywardlakes.com and changed the way you navigate around our site. The new design compliments all the things the northwoods has to offer.

As Internet-based technology continues to surge, the Hayward Lakes Visitors and Convention Bureau (HLVCB) has worked hard at using our website to provide an increasing amount of information about our destination. And they’re doing it in high-tech ways, using video clips, interactive maps and other innovative tools to help engage visitors.

The HLVCB is also using popular media sites such as YouTube, as well as social networks like Facebook to spread the message to potential visitors.
